We’re finally live with a new website and a FREE download of HOUSE OF SLEEP for a limited time! We’re ecstatic here at HQ to say the least. We encourage you to not only register as user of this site to get your free download, but to also participate in the community of feedback and idea sharing we’re trying to build here. We promise to be actively involved on here and look forward to hearing from all you!

This site and HOUSE OF SLEEP launched today at 12am to an overwhelming amount of traffic, certainly much more than expected, so thank you very much. We apologize to those of you that experienced the initial hiccups and downtime. Luckily, it does all seem to be going smoothly at this point.

Lastly, a VERY big thank you to everyone that came out to The Rock Room last night for our pre-launch listening party. It was extremely successful and nice to see so many familiar faces. We look forward to seeing you all at live shows in the foreseeable future.

Less than 30 hours left until the boarded over doors to the HOUSE OF SLEEP are pried open! The level of excitement in the AP camp is at an all-time high, as we have struggled for years, through countless obstacles, to get this record together. But here we finally are, standing on the eve of our first (and most highly-anticipated) release in over 4 years! 

We would like to take a moment to thank our associates who have contributed, each in their own way, in helping to fit the missing pieces of this puzzle together:

First - Bob Katz, (3-time Grammy Award winner) for his mastering skills. Adding your process to ours (and certainly Will’s production) was just what was needed to take this already over the top record, WAY over the top.
Second - Matt Doyle, whose brilliance is responsible for producing the HOUSE OF SLEEP cover art and site design. The simple but evocative imagery creates a perfect balance between the harsh sonic landscapes within and the multi-dimensional textures beyond these veiled walls.

And last, but certainly not least - Spilt Sugar. You have been our visual “documentarian” for over a decade now, and your list of contributions would be too long for this broadcast. Suffice it to say that thanks to you, we have a virtual library of photographs detailing the many phases and full 12-year history of AP. Your touch made this current set of photos our best to date!

For those of you who live in the Metro Detroit Area and just can’t wait until Saturday to finally experience HOUSE OF SLEEP, a special treat has been arranged. On Friday, 12.12.08, AUTO PILOT will be unveiling the new record at an ULTRA-EXCLUSIVE listening party! Come join us @ The Rock Room in Mt. Clemens (above Emerald Theater) and treat your ears to the WORLD PREMIERE of HOUSE OF SLEEP. Doors are @ 8:00PM, and the record drops @ 9:00PM, just 3 hours ahead of schedule for those who are unable to attend. (This is a 21+ event. Sorry kiddies.)

WE MUST STRESS that space is very limited, as The Rock Room has a handling capacity of roughly 100 people. If you don’t have VIP status, and you actually want to get inside the venue, we STRONGLY recommend arriving as early as possible. We will also be photo documenting/filming the event for a future release, so please, feel free to bring your own cameras and join in the fun!

This night marks the end of roughly 29,160 hours of total obsession for us. With that in mind, this EVENT is going to be EPIC! (Those of you who attended any of the actual House of Sleep shin-digs know just what we mean (80’s Dance Party anyone?). AP-UNIT will be on hand all night (before and after) so come on out and get your drink & groove on with your favorite band that the rest of the world doesn’t know about YET.

…It’s been a long road getting here. To be sitting on the edge of this records release is almost surreal. It would be next to impossible to explain what an experience it has been making this thing, so let’s not even try. Just consider this: looked at from a purely mathematical standpoint, to have finally reached the 100-hour mark, after 40 months of work, is the equivalent of having already traveled 98.99% of the distance of this 3-plus year ordeal. That leaves us with roughly 1% of this journey ahead. And that number is shrinking by the minute. How we got here, we don’t know. We’re just happy we got here at all…

…Today we made both “T H E Y” and “Departure” available in their extended formats, including not only the final mastered versions, but complimentary soundscapes (“Smoke & Mirrors,” and “Requiem,”) accompanying the end of each piece. This gives you a brief glimpse into some of the surrounding textures of the record as a whole. While HOUSE OF SLEEP consists of 13 tracks, it is technically 20 segments divided amongst the aforementioned 13. Within those segments are certain sonic and lyrical motifs that weave their way in and out of the playlist, spelling out a riddle that only you, the listener, can perceive and decode. If what you want is a simple set of finely-crafted songs to take your mind off of a busy day, you’ll find that here. But if you want more out of your listening experience, HOUSE OF SLEEP is also a multi-layered, texturally-expansive, darkly-psychedelic extrasensory event, designed to assist the listener in the unveiling of a higher consciousness, one laying dormant within you. All you have to do is tune in…

…But this road has not been traveled alone, and we would not have made it this far without the support of you, our fans. To know that you were always there, waiting to lend us your eyes and ears made it possible for us to pull this project out of the ditch every time it fell off course. Without the continued emotional (and often financial) support of our families and loved ones, this record would be little more than a brief sketch in the notebook it was hastily scratched into in the summer of 2003. But a simple vision blossomed into a beautiful rose. And that rose gave birth to a garden. And in time, that garden would grow to such wildly epic proportions that it began to more closely resemble a labyrinth than anything else. But the garden has returned. And so have we…

On 12.13.08, at the stroke of midnight, we will finally release HOUSE OF SLEEP. It will be available through this site for a limited time as a FREE download in DRM-free MP3 format. Consider this a gift of sorts to our fans who have stood by us throughout the years. Experience the album that has taken us more than 40 months to complete, and on several occasions, threatened to break us up. Over the course of the next 6 days, we will be frequently broadcasting transmissions concerning all things HOUSE OF SLEEP. Dial in to our frequency. Above all stay tuned in…
